Zest Global Events Life as an Event Planner. You have to absolutely LOVE your work and even when tested to the limit, somehow thrive on it! Forbes lists this job at number 5 in it’s Top 10 most stressful jobs and last night was a prime example of why. . . This photo was taken in Barcelona in July. Hot, sunny, dry. Minimal chance of bad weather, the forecast was good, we checked it! The Pool Party and BBQ was set for 200 sales people to celebrate the end of 3 days of intense conferences, seminars, workshops, networking events and awards ceremonies. . . And then what happened halfway through, without warning, came the most almighty storm. It came out of nowhere and turned the party upside down instantly. Everyone ran for cover, the props and theming blew away, crockery and glasses fell off tables, the food was pelted with rain, umbrellas and decor ended up in the pool and the most comic moment...the Spanish guitarists kept on playing. It can only be described as the moment from the Titanic film where the string quartet continued to play as the ship went down. . . . So how to you recover from this? You have to think your feet, you find alternatives, you work together as a team, you have to have drive, determination and creativity to pull something out of the bag, to keep going until you turn the disaster into the best night ever. And most importantly you do it with a smile on your face. . . . I am so proud of my team and colleagues in this industry when moments like these occur, because hey, that’s the reality of life sometimes. The mindset, strength of character, determination and resilience to deal with these kind of situations and turn them around is extraordinary. . . The end result for #teamzest was this morning 200 very happy people left the event saying they had the best time ever and what happened last night added to the event. . . A raging storm was a first for us and will be added to the ever growing story book of Life as an Event Planner.
